Starting September 23, 2018, global clothing store UNIQLO will release its Uniqlo U 2022 Fall/Winter collection. The new collection presents a more deliberate approach to minimalism; it was designed by Artistic Director Christophe Lemaire and his UNIQLO R&D team in Paris with the theme The Essentials with a Point of View.
As the name implies, Uniqlo U 2022 Fall/Winter was inspired by the concept of a season-spanning capsule wardrobe that can be packed away in a carry-on.
The men’s and women’s design teams collaborated to develop a small but unified capsule of gender-neutral basics, including a long pocketable coat and a short blouson jacket inspired by workwear that differed only in terms of size. The spacious cuts and proportions of the men’s and women’s clothing are flattering on a wide range of body shapes and provide for easy layering.
The core pieces in the women’s line were designed with wearability, flexibility, and ease of maintenance in mind. Coats designed for commuting, cozy wool knits, shirts inspired by menswear, and traditional high-waisted jeans with a contemporary, rounded leg are all examples of utilitarian, layered shapes that are both attractive and useful. The men’s collection is carefully picked and features a wide range of items suitable for both urban and outdoor use. Warmth and coziness are conveyed by the generous, boxy layers of soft wool, flannel, and cotton jersey. The ideal pair of chino pants will have a wide, tapered leg that updates the traditional look of labor pants.
A range of sophisticated new colors – bright ochre yellow, purple, washed red and warm white – complement rich neutrals, grounded in nature.
